The Best Garden Bed Soil Recipe 2022. Begin by filling your raised beds with roughly 50% topsoil, 30% compost, and 20% organic matter. Add a layer of compost (best if you make it yourself) add a layer of well aged manure (check out my round up of poops here).
You can fill your bed with either a mix of compost and peat moss or a mixture of topsoil. For raised beds, we like a blend of bulk sandy loam (or bagged topsoil) and nature’s blend compost. Sandy loam is a mix of sand, silt, & clay to create a loam.
